Neighborhood House Invites Community to Scare Away Hunger at Annual 5K and Family Fun Run

ROCHESTER, Mich., August 24, 2026 Neighborhood House invites runners, walkers and families to Rochester Municipal Park on Sunday, October 4, for its annual Scare Away Hunger 5K Run/Walk and Family Fun Run, a community event supporting neighbors facing food insecurity.

The 5K Run/Walk begins at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Family Fun Run at 9:15 a.m. Registration is $35 for the 5K and $10 per person for the Family Fun Run. A pancake breakfast is included with registration, and spectators can enjoy breakfast for $5.

The event is powered by Consumers Energy and brings together fitness, family activities and community support in one fall morning.

Following the races, participants and families are invited to stay for music, a pancake breakfast, kids crafts and activities, and a costume contest with prizes.

Funds raised through Scare Away Hunger support Neighborhood House programs and services for local neighbors experiencing hardship. Neighborhood House walks the path toward self sustainability with our neighbors during times of hardship, helping connect individuals and families with resources that can lead to greater stability.
